A crate is a collection of audio and videos from online sources organized into a theme. To learn how to make a crate and add media items into crates, check out our Crating 101 tutorial crate.
CratePlayer is currently best experienced on a laptop or desktop computer using Chrome, Safari, or Firefox. You can access the site from your mobile devices, but functionality may be limited and the layout may look a little peculiar for the time being.
Media items can be removed from your library by clicking on the media item and selecting "Remove from your media." Although the media is no longer linked to your account, it may still be viewable on the CratePlayer website. To delete a crate, click "Delete crate" on the crate detail page.
Simply click the "Share" button (looks like this: ) to share via Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, or email. From here, you can also copy the link to your clipboard and share the link manually.
Yes! You can invite anyone with a registered CratePlayer account to contribute media to any of your crates. To learn more about this feature, check out our Crating 101 tutorial crate.

Yes. Click the gear icon (looks like this: ) on the top right-hand corner of the navigation bar and select “Email settings.” Here you can choose which notifications you do or don’t want to receive via email.
Currently, CratePlayer only allows playlist imports from YouTube. To do so, go to Account Settings, located under the gear icon. Upon authorization we will import any custom playlists and the following playlists: Favorites, Uploads, Watch Later and Liked Videos. Private and unlisted playlists will be imported as private crates.
Not currently. At this time CratePlayer doesn’t directly host media. To add original content it must first be uploaded to the Internet Archive, YouTube, Vimeo, DailyMotion, or SoundCloud where it can then be accessed and added to CratePlayer.
Not at this point. CratePlayer simply displays the titles, descriptions, and pictures as they appear on the media's host site. If the media's info is changed on the host site, CratePlayer will reflect the changes.
The original content owners on the host site may have deleted the media or restricted it from being viewed or shared. Unfortunately we have no control over this.
Click "forgot password" on the log in screen and follow the instructions.
If you are logged in, you can set a new password by going to the account settings page. It is located under the gear icon at the top right-hand corner of the navigation bar.
Yes. You can change your username at any time by going to your profile page and clicking on your name. Keep in mind that your username is tied to the links for your crates, so if you change your username, old links to your crates that you've shared on other sites will no longer work.
Only one account and username per email address are permitted.
We'd hate to see you go! But if you want to, click the gear icon at the top right-hand corner of the navigation bar and select account settings from the drop down menu. Click "Delete my account" at the bottom of the page and follow the instructions.
No. We simply allow users to collect embeddable links and view them in our player. The content itself still ultimately resides on the host sites such as YouTube and SoundCloud.
Yes. Crates can be designated by their creator as Public (viewable by anyone) or Private (viewable by creator only).
You can control your privacy level by clicking the gear icon at the top right-hand corner of the navigation bar and selecting "Account settings." Here you can choose to allow others to view your media items, your favorites, and the users you follow, or keep them private.
